The Den is a new studio that offers musicians and bands an inviting, well equipped and low cost rehearsal and recording experience. The den has been established by local musicians, for local musicians. It is a not for profit company which means we can offer a low price service to support artists and musicians to pursue their interests and goals.
We believe that musicians and bands get a raw deal and are often priced out of the industry at the first step by having to pay for overpriced rehearsal space (assuming you can find some!) and big city priced recording facilities.
We have set up our rehearsal and recording unit to be fully equipped, so all the artist / band has to do is turn up with your instruments, plug in and play.
The Den offers the following as 'plug in an play' rehearsal space
- fully set up band PA (2000 watt)
- mic stands and microphones
- 160 watt bass guitar amp & speaker cab
- 100 watt guitar amp & 4x12 speaker cab (1)
- 100 watt guitar amp & 4x12 speaker cab (2)
- 100 watt guitar combo amp
- drum kit, on drum riser
The Den only offers premium quality, vintage equipment as that's what we prefer to use ourselves.
Bands and artists can of course choose to bring their own amps if they wish, however we may not be able to offer storage facilities.
The cost: the all inclusive price per day for rehearsal is £20. The all inclusive cost covers, rent of rehearsal room, rent of equipment, heating (if required) and electricity costs.
Additional Rehearsal Services:
The Den can provide on request, alternative premium quality equipment such as
- fender valve combos (hotrods, deville, twin)
- vintage valve heads (marshall, Kelly)
- vintage guitars (Gibson, Guild, Fender)
- vintage bass guitars (fender)
- Korg Synth
These would need to be requested in advance and would incur additional cost.
While £20 per day (all inclusive) is great value we will also offer further discounts for block booking.
Training and Coaching:
Are you a group of friends thinking of starting a band?
Are you a group of parents with budding rock stars on your hands?
If the answer to these questions is yes, then get in touch as we can not only offer the space, facilities and equipment but we can can also offer single artist or band tuition and coaching.
Our partners are all trained musicians and can offer band coaching and instrument tuition (guitar, bass guitar, drums, recording)

The Den recording facility:
The Den offers a full 'in house' recording service, using premium quality equipment and fully trained engineers. We have simple philosophy which is;
The Den aims to provide the best quality recording service, in a completely friendly environment (no big egos from us!) at a low cost. We believe in artist freedom and artist leadership.
The cost: because we are a not for profit enterprise we can offer a much lower cost than commercial studios. We will work with bands to determine their requirements and base costs around that. We only seek to cover time and fixed costs. Our aim is not to make commercial profits, our aim is to support local bands and artists to achieve their potential,and get their music out there.
The Den will work with and tailor services for any artist and band. We don't expect customers to have any industry knowledge, we don't use jargon and we definitely won't make people feel intimated. The Den wants artists to thoroughly enjoy their recording experience and we will happily show and explain techniques as we go along.
