The Swan Inn
Dating from 1681 and situated in Bicester’s quaint Old Town quarter, The Swan Inn strikes a wonderful balance between old coaching inn atmosphere and contemporary bar/restaurant character. Built from the local stone, the Swan is reputed to be the oldest drinking establishment in the town.
The recent refurbishment and modernisation has retained and enhanced the Swan’s best features: A cheerful wood-burning stove sits in the inglenook fireplace and several comfortable leather sofas complement the traditional scrubbed wooden dining tables and chairs. The Swan Inn has an up-market ambience without being stuffy.
Food – The Swan has gained an enviable reputation for food. Not ‘gastro’ and certainly not posh, our food is properly cooked and served with homely touches like home-made Maris Piper chips and home made puds. High in the popularity stakes are our home made pies, our home made 100% steak burgers and the ever popular Rib Eye steak, which we guarantee to serve exactly as you like. We don’t take ourselves too seriously: At the weekend we serve an authentic and extensive Indian menu, (Friday and Saturday nights after 9.00 p.m. and on Sunday nights from 7.00 p.m) courtesy of our friends at Paprika – an Indian kitchen just down the road. Sadly we only have seven dining tables so booking is highly advised.
Bar - our bar is a great place to unwind. Our great range of drinks, ranging from chilled bottled beers to draught lagers, cider to Guinness and hand-pulled real ales, is served by knowledgeable, friendly staff. Our real ale is always in tip top condition, guaranteed!!. The wine list isn't massive but is comprehensive so, you’re sure to find something to your taste.
Accommodation – When you’re looking for inexpensive, no-frills accommodation you probably won’t do better than the Swan. We have six comfortable letting bedrooms served by three shared bathrooms. Our ultra-low tariff doesn’t include breakfast but guests have several options available in the town, only a short walk away.
