Each gymnast works towards gaining their British Gymnastics Proficiency Awards and has the opportunity to purchase their badges and certificates on completion of a level. Here are to top reasons from Bristish Gymnastics why you couldn’t find a better sport for your child:- Fun – turning upside down and learning new skills and tricks is part of every child’s nature. Fitness – getting your child up and active is not only good for them it is encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle for life. Friendship – children love to play with their friends and make new ones in safe and challenging environments Fundamentals – participation in gymnastics teaches and enhances fundamental movement patterns learned early in life and essential for continued growth and development. Co-ordination and Body Control – gymnastics teaches how to control the body for safe landings and develops co-ordination for other sports and life activities Confidence and Self Esteem – learning new skills and getting stronger builds confidence and self esteem in children Listening Skills – children are taught the importance of listening to coaches and other gymnasts, a skill that translates well to all facets of life Set and achieve goals – helps children strive for accomplishments whether they be learning a new skill or making a competition team Cognitive Learning – learning new skills helps develop cognitive abilities for translation to the home/classroom Skills for other sports – it doesn’t matter if your child does not stick with the sport, the skills they learn and fitness they will gain will stay with them throughout life and their other sporting endeavours
