Ashburton Rollers is a voluntary group in Ashburton, raising money for a new skate facility at the Recreation ground. Anyone who has been to the current skatepark will know that it is unsafe, small, and rusting, yet a lot of young people still use it. What we propose is a smooth concrete park, which is safer, better built, and much longer lasting, that can be used by the youth of Ashburton and surrounding areas. Now a year in to our fundraising efforts, we have raised over £40,000, and hope to be building the park by springtime next year! Formed in the days of Empire the club drew together a a group of eccentric free thinkers who experimented with the new technology religions political pyschological socialogical freedoms that the end of the Victorian era was about to offer. This networking throughout the Empire resulted in a fairly secret society holding a huge powerbase. Having survived many scandals coups and being deeply despised by the mainstream establishment it still has a strong if fairly undynamic group of dedicated members who support each other in times of trouble.
