This magazine is not a news service, although we will cover timely events. It’s not designed to replace or compete with any existing media, only to compliment what is already available, encourage you to use them more, and try to draw together and highlight the great individuals and organisations we already have in place. Over the next 3 years we believe that Folkestone will come of age, again, and the Folkestone Post has been set up to support, and document this journey. M&C Saatchi will be running a crash course in advertising at the Creative Quarter, Folkestone from 9th July to 20th July 2012. They have just started a recruitment campaign for 12 young people aged between 18 to 24, to apply to be given a 2 week introduction to advertising; learning everything from getting to grips with the client brief and coming up with great advertising ideas, to working with photographers, designers and film makers on producing the ads. M&C Saatchi will be offering to tutor and inspire these young people with some of the advertising industry’s leading minds. The project is also being supported by local organisations that work in advertising, marketing and creative production and their project is aiming to give the young people involved an insight into working in a large advertising agency but also into the local job opportunities in the creative sector. This is the first time that a leading London advertising agency has offered work experience to young people in their own community, making it accessible to more people. This project was initiated by MP Damian Collins, and made possible through the participation of M&C Saatchi and other local businesses, as well as the Creative Foundation in Folkestone who have given free use of one of their buildings to house the project.
