There is much to see at Priory Park. Walk in the footsteps of medieval monks and imagine how the buildings once looked with the aid of our interpretation panels. A herb garden grows plants that monks would have used for medicinal, culinary and ceremonial purposes. The South Downs frame the site; providing a spectacular setting. Open all year round, free entry.

BONFIRE SITES There are six different bonfire societies: • Lewes Borough • Commercial Square • Southover • Waterloo • South Sreet • Cliffe At each fire site (shown on map) the Bonfire Society will light its bonfire and hold a firework display at about 9.30pm. PROCESSIONS There are many processions along the red routes during the evening. Each bonfire society sells its own programme giving details of its procession route. The United Grand procession starts at about 7.40pm. The main procession route becomes crowded early in the evening. When the town centre is full, the access barriers will be closed. The Lewes Pound

The Lewes Pound

The Lewes Pound is a creative yet practical way for local people to make money work for Lewes. The Lewes Pound is essentially a voucher or token that can be traded locally as a complementary currency and used alongside pounds Sterling. Money spent locally circulates within, and benefits the local economy. Money spent in national chains doesn't. The Lewes Pound encourages demand for local goods and services. In turn this builds resilience to the rising costs of energy, transport and food.
