People volunteer for many different reasons. Some of the reasons people choose to volunteer include a desire to: - Do something they really enjoy - Make use of special interest and talents - Learn new skills and develop new interests - Make new friends - Find out more about a job or type of work which they are considering as a career - Have a chance to take some responsibility and make decisions - Gain valuable training and experience which may lead to paid employment. MILLENNIUM VOLUNTEERS The Volunteer Centre runs the Millennium Volunteer Project. This is aimed at young people aged 16-24 years. They take part in volunteering and once they have completed 100 hours they receive a certificate and they then volunteer towards the Award of Merit 200 hours, where they will be invited to Stormont for Certificate Presentation. This is a project backed by the Secretary of Sate for Education and is also recognised by UCAS.
