Markinch District Community Choir

Markinch District Community Choir

The Choir meets on Wednesday evenings in Markinch Parish Church Hall from 7pm to 9pm. The rehearsals are fun and the atmosphere is informal. There is a break about 8 o'clock when tea or coffee is available, giving members the opportunity to mix and get to know each other. There is a wide range of abilities in the choir and plenty of help and support for people who are new to choral singing. It is not necessary to be able to read music. We sing a wide variety of songs from musicals to classic pop, Scottish, West Indian, African and American, as well as seasonal songs at Christmas. We currently have around 40 members and are always keen to welcome new members to join us. If you have an interest in singing in a local community based choir please come along to our rehearsals and join in with what we are doing. No auditions are held and membership is open to anyone over 14 years. We aim to stage two or three concerts each year and will perform with other groups if invited. In 2011 we gave concerts in Markinch Town Hall in June and December and we sang at the Tullis Russell Mills Band Traditional Family Christmas Concert in the Rothes Halls. In 2012 we participated in the Queen's Jubilee concerts in May and held our own concert in June. Our Christmas concert is in rehearsal at the moment and we will be singing again with the Tullis Russell Band
