Pennycomequick Arts PCQ

Plymouth UK, Plymouth ,
PCQ own manifesto Arts movement based within the community PCQ is about peoples storys through art and expressed through beauty Art can be done anywhere-The Gallery does not matter you can show art anywhere from the gallery to the street to Facebook Holistic- spirituality of the mind subconsciously and unconsciously Uncensored expression Realism DIY - individual expression working together or independently Don’t have to be career driven or academic just make art We are not afraid to fail and will always learn from mistakes is part of the process Experimentation Art can be mysterious and does not need explaining all the time Against novelty and gimmicks Don’t always have to be clever you can be wrong Against convention in art like white walls and believe in art happenings and galleries in people’s houses or disused spaces We do agree that education and institutions are about ticking boxes and outcomes rather than places of thinking or creative freedom. These places primary motivation are financial and do not work in the favor of the local arts communities rather they are about academia achievement rather than someone’s ability to make good works of art or to allow true artistic freedom where the craft is more respected than written work. However the change must come from within and art and education can and should be about creating places of freedom and that colleges, universities and educational circles should be more connected to the real world and the arts communities and the art communities connected to them. Spiritual art not just fairyland or Lord of the Rings spirituality is about humanity and our quest to understand ourselves and can be expressed through the arts Being understood and not having to fit boxes is important to keep artistic identity Students and artists should study work of artists from all backgrounds Flawed people can be great artists We understand and sympathize that art should not always be about profit margins and believe all art has value in all form and in how its shown from a gallery to the street or the house. Art for all is good, this encourages people from all ages, creed, gender and disabilities to take up art to express their freedoms through art.
