Twin Archimedes screws called Thunder and Lightning produce renewable electricity 24/7 from the power of the river Goyt at Otter spool weir in Stockport. The scheme is community owned and run by a group of over 40 volunteers. Income generated from the sale of electricity will be used to support local community projects. The scheme brings back into use an old industrial site, built over a hundred years ago to power the mills of Stockport. Now modern technology allows us to once again harness this sustainable source of energy with minimal impact on wildlife and the environment.

Stockport Radio Control Drifters is a new community club for everyone to have some fun. Meetings will be held every Friday from 7:00pm till 9:00pm.
