Young & Battaglia
Anglo-Italian design duo Brendan Young and Vanessa Battaglia are the designers behind Young & Battaglia design studio which offers a selection of creative design services ranging from product design and art direction through to interior design services. Working together since 2003 from their design studios based in Cambridgeshire, they initially attracted international attention at the Milan furniture fair in 2003 with their upcycled pieces including 'Love 36' chair made from reject Dunlop tennis balls, 'Recycled Sound' flat speakers using old vinyl records. SInce then they have worked on a wide range of design projects for clients, including commercial interiors, photo shoot art direction, and also product design (including wallpaper, lighting, rugs, radiators, interior accessories, ceramics, sculpture and electronics) both locally and internationally. In 2010 they founded their own successful design brand Mineheart, of which they are directors, producing an exclusive collection of wallpaper, rugs, art, lighting and furniture in the UK. Their work has been featured in many books and magazines around the world, and features in the permanent collection of the MMOMA. Their playful approach and innovative use of materials and imagery has won them numerous design awards including BIDA award for outstanding design.
