2 years ago I was a mum at home with a 2 year old and 9 month old. I didn't want to go back to work after my maternity leave as even though it was a brilliant job and I'd worked my way up the career ladder it was a long hours and a very long commute. I was looking to work flexibly around my children without the costs of childcare. I soon realised that part time jobs were not the answer- they were not going to provide me with the income I wanted, the career I wanted or the time with my children. I was looking to earn £500 per month to contribute to the household and pay for items for the children, I set up my own business in 2009 after meeting a business mentor at a networking event. It nearly didn't happen- I had lost a lot of my confidence after having children and had never networked before but luckily my friend dragged me along and I've been helping mums and dads ever since. It allows me to always be at the school gates, I don't have to pay childcare, it allowed for us to continue our lifestyle even when my husband was off on long term sick and then later could only return to work part time. For me knowing that the childrens future is secure is the most important thing to me and I want to help as many families get that as possible.
