As an education centre based in Eglinton, Co. Londonderry, Northern Ireland, we are unique in that we educate young people and adults with learning disabilities through music. Students aged 16 and above participate in a range of accredited courses such as Working Towards Independence while focussing on learning and developing new skills in music and creative arts. Music is a central focus at Something Special as a way of consolidating learning, developing concentration, social interaction and participation in group work. We also endeavour to promote tolerance and social inclusion of adults with learning disabilities through workshops, performances and including members of the community, whether that be as a volunteer or fund-raiser
