Childrens Social Care Training focused on the well being of vulnerable young people.

Instructors: Nick Holbrook Nicks has been a member of St John Ambulance for 9 years and has been a trainer for 5 years teaching a wide range of subjects. He has been a Rookie Lifeguard Instructor with Wakefield and Ossett Lifesaving Club for 3 years. He is also an Royal lifesaving Society and Swimming Teachers Association Pool lifeguard and a Royal Lifesaving Society Beach Lifeguard. He also is qualified to above first responder level with the RNLI and works as a Community First Responder for the Ambulance Service. Nick likes to be known as the modern first aider. As he works with so many organisations he knows the most recent first aid protocols and conbines the training and experience from each organisation into the courses that we run at First +. Mick Holbrook Mick has been in the fire service for 25 years. Even before his career in the fire service he has had first aid knowledge as a Lifeguard when he was 16. Mick has a high number of qualifications in the fire service such as first person on scene, First aid instructor and even manual handling instructor. With this high number of years comes vast experience and Mick prides himself in looking into the common sense of first aid. As the Dinosaur of first aid Mick has plenty of stories to share and can relate the training to real life scanreios.

The Pied Piper out of school club at Norristhorpe was established in 1994, to provide care for school aged children at the beginning and end of each school day throughout the school holidays. The Club became very successful and had excellent Ofsted reports. Due to high demand for pre-school quality childcare in the local area we were led to open a new childcare centre in Mirfield for children aged 3 months to 14 years of age. At Pied Piper, we are proud of our reputation for providing a caring, fun, stimulating and educational environment. Our Philosophy is to nurture children through play and learning activities, to help them grow in confidence, independance and social skills. This Philosophy has seen Pied Piper grow to open a further nursery in Roberttown and have now become one of Kirklees most successful providers of childcare and affiliated with Sure Start. We provide our children with a safe, happy, healthy and stimulating environment. We offer a child centred approach where children are encouraged to develop their creativity and individuality in secure surroundings, led by fully trained staff that have a real rapport with the children in their care. Children need to feel a sense of security and belonging when they are away from their parents and this is the key to the philosophy of all our settings. We strive to ensure that all children feel happy, relaxed and safe and encourage them to feel confident in co-operating and developing good relationships with the adults caring for them. We work within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and provide a wide range of appropriate learning materials, stimulating high quality toys and activities which will encourage the children to develop at their own pace whilst learning new skills. Every child is recognised and treated as an individual, within a framework of the highest ethical standards and equal opportunities. We work closely with parents to provide a level of care that meets the highest standards you would expect.
