Saltburn Woodlands Centre
THE CENTRE IS STILL UNDER DEVELOPMENT AND WE AIM TO OFFICIALLY OPEN READY FOR SUMMER 2013!!!
The CIC was formed by two interested parties (Friends of the Valley (FOV) and Valley Adventures (VA) who had vested interests in preserving and developing the Woodland Centre and surrounding area after the local council decided it could no longer support the existing centre which it owned and decided to put it out to tender. The two groups were helped by a council social enterprise advisor as part of the regeneration services.
Aims:
To provide benefit to the public and local communities of all ages interested in outdoor activities, wildlife and the natural environment
Objectives:
1. To enable the protection, preservation and development of the valley gardens and surrounding woodland to ensure that the environment is conserved as nature intended.
2. To support and encourage young people to appreciate the importance of investing in the natural environment now and in the future through educating them about its integral contribution to their future (this could be better!)
3. To enable young people to experience the beauty and wonder of the natural environment through organised activities as well as enhancing their personal and group skills
4. To provide an environment for everyone, (young people, families etc) to enjoy the experiences of spending time in the woodland centre and surrounding area to appreciate the joys of the natural world and its inhabitants and by doing so want to contribute to its conservation.
