Hello, Thank you for getting in touch about the Summer Work Experience Programme. No matter what your previous experience is, the work experience programme is about learning new skills and meeting new people. It is designed to give you a real insight into how local and national politics work. As a work experience intern you will learn about how Chris Skidmore MP campaigns and works in Kingswood as well as looking at and debating other political ideas and practices. You will be actively involved in campaigning, petitioning and canvassing. During the programme you will: Receive full training on vital political skills such as canvassing, public speaking and issue campaigning. Research and discuss politics with your team-mates and compete in debates. Hear guest speakers talk about how they got involved in politics and what they think about today's political issues. Visit the MP's office and have the chance to meet politicians. We don't expect you to have any previous experience in politics, the programme is focussed on providing a new experience and helping you to pick up new skills and learn new things. The programme will take place in the Kingswood Constituency, but is open to everybody!
