Visited this restaurant for my 13 year old son's birthday on a Friday night. There were 8 of us altogether and we were shown to our table immediately, drinks and food order were taken immediately and promptly served. They brought a cake out for us, at our request, and all the waiters, waitresses and manager sang happy birthday and played a hand horn at the same time, which raised a smile and we thought it was a nice personal touch! "Tarquin's Tea Rooms" I get asked every day who is Tarquin, well I am the eldest of four children I had three brothers and when my first brother was born my dad wanted to call him Tarquin but my mum said no chance. So my brother was called after my father John Henry Hale my husband is also called John, In 2011 my father suddenly took very ill and was admitted to hospital he was in a room with four other men all called John. every time my dad went to sleep a nurse would come in and say time for your medication John and it would wake my dad up because he didn't know which one she meant. So he told the hospital staff to change his name to Tarquin on his records and he made every one call him Tarquin from then on, Sadly my father has now passed away along with my brother John Henry so I named my café in honour of my dad and my eldest brother. I carry them both in my heart xx.
