Dundee United FC J League

Gussie Park, Dundee ,
How do you fancy playing for the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid or Man U? This can be easily arranged........All you need to do is join the DUFC J League. The project started in season 2001-2002 with only one age group, the under 8s. Currently, there are six age groups of thirty-eight teams, which we expect to grow. Each team of upto nine kids has its own individual coach and plays in the colours of a famous European club in a friendly and safe family environment. The fun-packed and confidence-building programme is delivered by our SFA qualified coaches. Each session lasts for one hour incorporating a warm-up and drill, then two periods of seven aside football. It is open to boys and girls of primary 2 to S1 age regardless of ability. The event takes place in a safe environment and parents' attendance in encouraged. The kids love the games and are full of enthusiasm, as are the parents who have really got behind the project, turning out in large numbers every Saturday and Sunday regardless of the weather. The DUFC Champions J League proved to be a great success again with sixteen teams competing in the finals day at Tannadice Park. This initiative will continued again this season with the group matches starting in January and the finals will be held in May 2011 * Each team has its own dedicated coach * Open to boys and girls of Primary 2-S1 age, regardless of ability * Builds Confidence * Teaches children social interaction and to work in a team environment * Parents attendance is encouraged, although there is strictly no coaching from the sidelines * most importantly - its fun, in a safe 'family' environment * DUFC Champions J League tournament "We hold high objectives for the development of our youth academy and a key element is of course, talent identification, the spans the whole od the country in our attempt to unearth, nurture and guide young players towards the first team squad - within this search our Academy staff will focus a regular presence at the weekly J League sessions with promising youngsters invited to participate in our development sessions" Ian Cathro Dundee United Academy Manager, 9-14s
