In 1983 Keith Ashworth and Bill Thomas were running separate businesses on opposite sides of Burnt Tree Island in Tipton. Keith had seven vans that were standing idle on his premises and Bill had a large forecourt with high footfall. It was a match made in heaven and with it Burnt Tree Vehicle Rental was born. By the mid-1980s Burnt Tree had outgrown its premises in Tipton and the business was relocated to a larger site in Shrewsbury, which has been home to our Head Office ever since. Today Burnt Tree is the UK’s largest independent commercial vehicle rental company, offering the widest range of vehicles in the industry, all backed by flexible products that put our customers in control. We operate our 14,000-strong fleet from 18 strategically located sites throughout England, Scotland and Wales and we invest over £60 million annually to ensure that as well as being the most comprehensive ours is the youngest, most reliable and efficient fleet possible. The vans that launched the venture and the roundabout that was home to our first site have made way in the name of progress but the memory of both live on as the seven red dots in the Burnt Tree logo.
