Founded in 1967, the Department of Art History at Essex is recognised nationally and internationally as one of the very best in the UK. Our approach: We are committed to an open and friendly approach and offering close personal attention to individual students and their needs. Research interests of our staff: Staff expertise covers a wide range of interests in both teaching and research. These include painting and sculpture in Europe and the USA, architecture and city planning from the Renaissance to the present day, Latin American art and architecture, installation art, photography, film and video. University of Essex Collection of Latin American Art Our growing University of Essex Collection of Latin American art (UECLAA) is already the biggest in Europe, providing students with the opportunity to study, handle and mount exhibitions of original works of art. Why choose Essex? The Psychology Department at Essex is young, dynamic, enthusiastic and research oriented. In the latest Research Assessment Exercise 95% of our research was rated as of international quality. Our teaching was rated as 'Excellent' by the government's most recent Quality Assurance Agency exercise. We are housed in purpose built buildings and are very well equipped for teaching and research. We have excellent computer labs, and a recently built neuroscience laboratory. We combine both small group and large group teaching throughout our degree. The campus at Essex is small and friendly, yet within easy reach of Stanstead airport and London and the coast to the east. Courses we offer: BA/BSc in Psychology: Our degree scheme is fully accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). Accreditation is a clear indication of excellent teaching quality and is necessary to enrol in certain post-graduate professional training courses. Already have a degree but wish you had studied psychology?: If you are thinking of returning to study or want to add a psychology qualification to your cv, we offer a fast track (one-year) MSc Psychology conversion degree in psychology. Looking for advanced training in a small group with hands on experience? We offer an MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience, MSc Cognitive Neuropsychology and MSc Research Methods. These courses stand alone or are an excellent preparation for PhD study. Our international quality research teams offer PhD training in social psychology, cognitive psychology and sensory and cognitive neuroscience.

The School of Law has an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research. We offer opportunities for study at undergraduate (LLB), taught postgraduate (LLM) and research postgraduate (MPhil, PhD) levels. All of our degrees are taught by experts committed to excellence in legal scholarship and teaching. The School has teaching and research interests in all areas of the legal curriculum, including: public law and human rights law at national, European and international levels; company, commercial and trade law; family, child and medical law; digital and communications technology laws; and humanitarian and environmental law. All our LLBs are qualifying law degrees. You may study for an LLB in English Law or in Law with another subject (Human Rights, Philosophy or Politics). If you have excellent French language skills, we offer the LLB/Maîtrise through our links with Paris X Nanterre; otherwise we have range of other degrees offering the chance to study abroad. At postgraduate level, we offer a range of LLMs including International Human Rights Law, International Trade Law and European Business Law (the PALLAS programme).
