Blackgates Gallery
Blackgates is a contemporary gallery housed within a former Georgian coaching inn located in the centre of the historic market town of Baldock. It takes its name from the striking fifteenth century gates which open onto a stunning courtyard and gardens, and are believed to have come from the hospital of St Mary Magdalene.
The gallery is dedicated to showcasing cutting edge, unique quality work from established British and International makers, and promotes innovative work from a small carefully selected group of next generation emerging artists who use traditional techniques in a contemporary context.
Specialising in contemporary ceramics, from worldwide exhibitors including Dylan Bowen, Consuelo Radclyffe, Ann Goodfellow and Barry Stedman the gallery seeks to bridge the gap between art and craft.
Our mission is to promote the future value and investment potential of both British and International contemporary design - beautiful pieces that will become family heirlooms of the future.
