Jackson Kayak Coaching was set up in Feb 2009 to help more people get into paddle sports. We teach children and adults Kayaking and Canoeing, on a one to one or group basis. All coaches are fully insured, first aid trained, qualified and CRB checked. We are based at Priory Lake in Bedford, Where we have the safety of the lake environment to learn on and then the river next door where more adventures await you. We have lots of experience in coaching all levels of BCU stars awards and run courses for adults and children including the BCU Paddle power course which is spread out over a number of weeks and broken down to make it a fun way to learn to paddle a kayak and canoe with lots of games to keep them amused. We also do children's birthday parties that can be run for you to suit your needs from 1 hour and over in Katakanu’s and kayaks and canoes! All equipment will be supplied and we have full shower and changing facilities on site. Open to all ages from 6 years old to 108 We have over 13 fleet boats available to hire along with all the kit needed so if you don't have your own there is nothing stopping you coming with us. We also run weekly river trips on local rivers and further afield places Matlock and the lovely river Wye. We offer courses in First Aid, Intro to White water training in Wales and other star courses and training. Whatever you want to do we can arrange it for you. School Groups scout groups just give us a call. We do not charge a membership fee to come and paddle with us, Its free. if you have your own kit, If not then we can hire you some for a small fee. After working with children since 2005 I noticed a very common thread, children like every other human don't like to be controlled. They want to please the adults around them and gain respect for who they are as individuals. Even at an early age this can cause conflict. Any human being in conflict is not going to be at their best in any capacity. I've learnt that it is possible to have boundaries with children and still allow them the freedom to explore themselves in a healthy and respectful way. As a parent and teacher I have found that children feel safest when you teach them consistency and authenticity. As children don't judge, and naturally trust their instincts they require you as their parent or teacher to be authentic. This creates trust and harmony .
