Here at Bewdley Festival we are tremendously proud that this year’s Festival will be the 25th run by local volunteers, as it has been since the first one was held in 1988. Every October in our small, beautiful town on the River Severn, we offer 9 evening events and at least 10 in the daytime. In addition we have two art exhibitions, street entertainment, workshops for schools and others, and special church services as well as a Fringe which we encourage but do not run. The Festival is organised to appeal to as wide a range of tastes as possible with appearances by big names in the worlds of comedy, literature, drama, television and music of all kinds, and a mixture of talks on fascinating topics that never fail to amuse and educate.

As always Hopfest is showcasing local musicians and musicians with local connections. An innovation this year is that, in association with Bewdley Youth Festival, during the day we are focussing on young talent. The first 4 acts performing on the Main Stage and The Marquee Wet Desert The Damage The Nuclear Weasels Flaws These all come from schools and colleges in the local area. However don’t underestimate their ability. e.g. The Nuclear Weasels appeared recently at the O2 Academy in Birmingham. There will be a Young Talent Tent where during the day there will be a series of workshops and impromptu performances from other bands or individuals from schools in the local area. The music will be combined with Family Attractions including Rhythmic Unity Drumming, Circus Skills and Street Entertainers, Bucking Bronco and Bungee Run Competitions, Bubble Shows, Face Painting and much more. There will be plenty of Good Food from quality local suppliers and Bewdley Brewery will make sure there’s an ample supply of local real ale in the Beer Tent. In the evening there will be non-stop live music from more accomplished musicians alternating between The Main Stage and The Marquee.
