Bideford Bay Children's Centre has developed from the Sure Start Bideford Local Programme, which was set up in 2002. When the programme was first set up it covered only the areas of Bideford North, South and East. In 2005 the Sure Start Local Programme became a Children's Centre, and its area expanded to include Appledore and Westward Ho!. In 2006 the area which the Sure Start Bideford Children's Centre covered was extended to include Northam and Instow. And in 2008 the Children's Centre extended its area along the coast from Westward Ho! to Clovelly and Hartland. To mark this change, we changed our name to Bideford Bay Children's Centre to reflect more accurately the area we cover. Extending our area means many new challenges in terms of the services we can hope to provide for all our families.

Bideford Bay Creatives are a not-for-profit community group who wish to raise their profile, whilst creating opportunities for the local community (people, businesses, voluntary groups, arts organisations) to host events and activities and get involved with the arts.

Bideford 500 is a community group who are passionate about the last 500 years of history and heritage of Bideford. We research, promote and celebrate our findings, working in partnership with the local community, schools and businesses.

We plant orchards, get together for 'Green Drinks', hold regular meetings and loads more - as we try and make Bideford a more sustainable place to live. We recognise that we need to adapt and find new ways (or rediscover old ones!) of sourcing our food and new ways of creating the energy we need. We've found this can also be a fantastic way of building our community and strengthening links between groups and individuals.
