The House, parts of which date from the 16th century, is set in around two acres of garden and orchard, on the South West Coastal Path at the foot of Stonebarrow Hill on the eastern edge of the lovely Regency village of Charmouth.
Charmouth is a perfect base for walking and fossil hunting along the world famous “Jurassic Coast â€The coast line is now part of a World Heritage Site and the whole area is one of outstanding natural beauty. A few minutes walk into the village brings you to the famous fossil cliffs and part sandy beach of Jane Austen’s “sweet retired bayâ€. Two miles away is Lyme Regis and the “Cobb.†There are several local pubs and restaurants serving Gourmet food. Charmouth Village has two Grocery Stores, two Hairdressers, a Butcher. a Pharmacy,GP Surgery & Dentist, a Fish & Chip Shop , Café ,2 Pubs, a Newsagent and two memorable places to eat. The White House Hotel and The Abbott’s House.
Stonebarrow Manor is ideally placed for day excursions into East Devon or east to the Georgian town of Bridport and “Hardy†country to Dorchester. There are several beaches nearby and many wonderful walks across the cliffs or local paths and nature reserves. Local leisure facilities include a covered heated pool, Golf, Sailing, Tennis, Deep Sea Fishing and Diving; Fly fishing, Coarse Fishing and Horse Riding across Golden Cap. Organised Fossil Hunts are regularly available. A little further a field are the unique Chesil Beach, Abbotsbury, with its Swannery and sub-tropical gardens, and the bustling resort of Weymouth.
There is a wonderful Saturday street “Brocante†market in Bridport. Axminster, Dorchester and Honiton are excellent hunting grounds for antiques, old and rare books etc.
Directions: From Bridport: Take first turning left to Charmouth, from A35, down short hill, and take first turn left into Stonebarrow Lane. Stonebarrow Manor is immediately on your left.
From Axminster / Lyme Regis: Take second turning right to Charmouth, from A35, then as above.

Train From London Waterloo to Axminster Station, approximately 23/4 hours, then short taxi or bus ride to Charmouth. Please call if you require a taxi number. (normal size, or mini buses carrying 8+) By Road: From London or the Midlands approximately 2 to 21/2 hours.
Activities & Corporate Games. We can help with information on local activities e g. Riding (which should be pre-booked). We also suggest that Adults and older children should pack a hammer and chisel for the fossil hunts on the beach nearby which can be rewarding, educational and addictive! We have a number of local venues available for activities such as Paintballing, Quad Biking,4X4 Off Road Driving ,Clay Pigeon Shooting, Karting, Archery, Team Building, Fly Fishing , Coarse Fishing ,Speed Boat Trips, Coastal Cruises, Diving, Horse Riding, Wind Surfing .Paragliding, Mountain Boarding, Llama Trekking, etc.

Catering .The house and kitchen are fully equipped for self catering. Our Caterers are available for “Special occasion meals†or for Brunches, Barbecues etc. The Chef offers creative menus using local (& often organic) produce. Either fully Catered or Self-serve.
