The giant Harbourside aquarium, which is officially twinned with the world-famous Barcelona Aquarium, showcases aquatic wildlife from around the world in more than 40 naturally-themed habitats. Two giant ocean tanks, complete with underwater walkthrough tunnel sections are home to tropical and native sharks and rays and other displays feature everything from giant octopus and seahorses, to piranhas, jellyfish, coral reefs and freshwater stingrays. With interactive activities from leading organisations including BBC Natural History Unit, National Trust and Bristol Zoo, live entertainment, animal encounters, famous faces, a market packed with local food and much more, the Festival brings the natural world to the heart of the city, promising a wild weekend for the whole family! In 2013, we will be launching our new outreach programme, Bristol.99, bringing wildlife events to Bristol's 99 best sites for nature. Clevedon Pier

Clevedon Pier is the only Grade I Listed pier intact in the country. It is beautiful slender structure a located on the North Somerset Coast, a much-loved local icon with immense heritage importance. Opened to the public in 1869 the pier consists of a promenade stretching into the sea, built using old Barlow railway lines from Brunel’s Great Western Railway broad gauge. It was rescued by the Clevedon Pier and Heritage Trust following a Public Inquiry resulting from its partial collapse under a load test in 1971. Open 364 days per year and attracting over 90,000 visitors, the Pier is operated by a few staff and many volunteers. It is popular with sea anglers and is used for sailings by pleasure steamers in the Bristol Channel. There is a shop and a small art gallery in the Toll House and we have a Clevedon exhibition in our nearby Heritage Centre building.
