The airport has been the location for some prehistoric excavationsSince 30 May 2009, the airport has been owned by the Stobart Group on a 150 year lease, expiring 2150.HistoryRAF Crosby-on-EdenIn the early 1930s, Cumbria County Council opened Kingstown Municipal Airport, at the time outside the borough boundaries which later became the RAF Kingstown and is now Kingstown or Kingmoor Industrial estate. With the outbreak of war in 1939, RAF Kingstown's runway was too small for bombers, so the Royal Air Force developed a new airstrip at Crosby-on-Eden. The new facility came into operation in February 1941 for training operations, designating the station RAF Crosby-on-Eden.Originally housing No.59 Operational Training Unit the station provided day training for Hawker Hurricane pilots, which was replaced by OTU17 Group Coastal Command in August 1942 for training long-range fighter crews on Bristol Beaufort and Bristol Beaufighter conversion squadrons, as well as air firing and night flying. In August 1944 the station came under the command of 109 OTU, a transport command of Douglas Dakotas. The station was renamed 1383 TCU 1/8/45. However, the station had no post war use or need, and was closed in 1947 with the airfield returning to Carlisle City Council to continue as a municipal airport.

It was established in 2007, following the merger of St Martin's College, the Cumbria Institute of the Arts and the Cumbrian campuses of the University of Central Lancashire. Its roots extend back to the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts established in 1822 and Charlotte Mason teacher training college in the 1890s. The university is based upon the idea of a "distributed learning network", so that teaching takes place both at the university's main campuses, and at colleges of further education around Cumbria, a rural county that includes the Lake District.HistoryThe University of Cumbria was formed by the merger of St Martin's College, Lancaster, the Cumbria Institute of the Arts (CIA)- formerly Cumbria College of Art & Design (CCAD) - and the Cumbrian campuses of the University of Central Lancashire on 1 August 2007. These institutions formerly ran degree programmes accredited by Lancaster University and the University of Central Lancashire. In order to facilitate the change, St Martin's College applied for independent degree-awarding powers in March 2005 and was successful in July 2006 after nine months of scrutiny by the Quality Assurance Agency. In January 2007 official university status was granted by the Privy Council.

Brunton Park is a football stadium and the home of Carlisle United F.C. It is situated in the city of Carlisle, Cumbria and has a certified capacity for the 2011/2012 season of 18,202. The ground opened in 1909. Brunton Park's grandstand burned down in 1953 and the stadium flooded completely in 2005.

The station is owned & operated by Bauer Radio and forms part of Bauer's Place Network of stations.HistoryThe station was launched by its original owners, Border Television at 8am on 14 April 1993 when Managing Director and Breakfast show host John Myers played "The Best" by Tina Turner as its first song.Originally CFM only broadcast from their Caldbeck mast to Carlisle on 96.4 and Penrith, from the top of Beacon Hill, on 102.5. In September 1995 they also started transmitting to West Cumbria from their transmitters at Broughton Moor and Whitehaven. The frequencies for the West Coast are 102.2 (Workington and Cockermouth) and 103.4 (Whitehaven).In 2005 media giant Emap bought CFM and branded it as one of its Big City Network of stations. In 2008 Emap was bought by Bauer, who have retained ownership of the station.
