Clitheroe Masjid

Clitheroe Masjid

The Medina Partnership, 26 Holden Street, Clitheroe ,
The road to establishing Clitheroe's local mosque has been a lengthy one. A number of efforts have been made since the 1970's, culminating in the successful granting of planning permission on 21st December 2006. Clitheroe Masjid will be established as a non-denominational facility committed to preserving the traditional values of Islam, in accordance with the Holy Qur'an and the authentic Hadith and Sunnah of our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw). Sectarian, nationalist or tribal separatism will have no place here. Our aim is to recapture the essence of what a true Masjid should be - as well as being a hub for community life in the area, it will be a spiritual haven for all people, consecrated to the worship of our one true Lord, Allah the Merciful, and dedicated to teaching Muslims to live out their faith in accordance with His wishes, and those of His trusted servant and Messenger. The centre will be managed by The Medina Partnership. Why your donation matters You can almost hear the call to prayer as it travels through the great prayer hall... You can almost smell the sweet fragrance of the attar as the worshippers gather in rows... You can almost feel the soft carpet that will receive the bowed heads of the faithful as they finally fulfil the obligation of congregational worship after 40 long years... This could be the year that it finally happens for your Muslim brothers and sisters in the town of Clitheroe - we are frustratingly close to finally opening The Mount, the area's first masjid after over 4 decades of trying. Structural, building and remedial works have been completed. We now need to fit the building out with heating and lighting, internal decoration and fittings, doors and windows, musallahs etc. Please help Case study: donations in action Assalamu alaykum, My name is Maryam and I am 10 years old. I love Islam and hope that me and all my friends can soon have our own mosque in the town where we can pray and learn about Islam. I'm so excited that we will have our own mosque soon because we haven't ever had one before. My Great Grandfather wanted to have a mosque in Clitheroe a long time ago but they weren't allowed. People in the community have been trying since then but there have been lots of problems because there are some people who didn't want us to have a mosque. But now we have a mosque and it is nearly ready but there is still lots of work to do to put all the carpets and doors and lights and decorations and things in. I hope you will help us because Islam is great and me and my family and my friends will be able to pray and learn in the mosque and we will look after it. Thank you to all the ummah who will help us Maryam
