Coalisland Community Youth Soccer

Coalisland Community Youth Soccer

This is a project to get youths from all sections of the community to get involved in sport through the game of soccer. It is hoped that those youths from Ethnic Minority groups and those from different religious beliefs come together in a bridge building effort to show that we can all work as a team together. It is also hoped that the formation of youth teams in the community will go someway to deter youths getting involved in Anti-social behaviour, underage drinking and drug involvement. We hope this is the start of a project which will last for a long long time into the future and that youths with the help of the wider community will make this project grow and keep on growing well into the future.

Gortgonis Sports Complex, Coalisland ,
The club was founded in 2004 it was a combination of two former clubs namely Coalisland Orient and Coalisland Young Bhoys. We applied for entrance to the Mid-Ulster Football League in May 2004 and were accepted and placed in Division 4.This was a daunting time for the club because up until then we had participated at Lonsdale League Level and this was a giant step up.In our first season as the new boys we did better than expected and came runners up beaten on goal difference and so gained promotion into Division 2.This season 2005/2006 proved to be more fruitfull when we won both the League and cup double and once again gaining promotion to a higher Division.Season 2006/2007 once again was a very sucessful season winning the League 2 title and were narrowly beaten finalists in the League Cup.2007/2008 season saw the club reach its height as we entered Division 1 of the Mid-Ulster League we had come a long way in a few short years and finished a creditable 3rd in our first season. The following season 2008/2009 was a quiet season by the clubs standards finishing mid table and reaching a cup final to be beaten by a very good first division side in St Marys. The club then regrouped and whilst in a transitional period the 2009/2010 season it saw the club reach yet another cup final and once again meeting a brilliant Warrenpoint Team (who later joined the Irish League ) by the narrowest of margins and finishing a creditable 5th in the league. The 2010/2011 season was a great season for the club when they achieved the double winning the league for the first time in the towns history and then going on to win the Alexandra cup another fete never ever accomplished by a team from Tyrone. The 2011/2012 season seems to be looking brighter with yet another few new players and also the forming of a reserve team which will play in the Mid-Ulster Reserve Div 4 this can only enforce ther clubs ambitions to bring more silverware back to the town so its good luck and we wish both teams well.
