The Bear is famous far and wide for its welcoming atmosphere, historic character, convivial surroundings and good food. A cobbled forecourt, archway into the inner courtyard and 19th-century stagecoach timetable in the bar are all reminders of the Bear's former role.

Now you need a comfortable base from which to start your exploring from and that's where Gliffaes comes in. We are the only 4 star hotel in the National Park and have a truly unique setting. Sitting a hundred feet above the river Usk in 33 acres of lawns and woodland Gliffaes is surrounded by over a 100 different mature trees. My wife and I have been running Gliffaes since 1998 and Susie is the third generation of her family to run the hotel.
