St Mary's College opened its doors in 1959 on its original site in the Creggan area of Derry. For fifty years it served the parish, parents and pupils of Derry from this site. It attracted pupils from a wide catchment area that embraced most of the city. In 2010 St Mary's celebrated its Golden Anniversary and it moved to its new hi-tech campus at the heart of the Digital Corridor on the Northland Road. Pupils now have access to state of the art facilities and vibrant learning spaces.

The following workshops are completely FREE and are available to children from 11-18 years old. Dance The Dance programme at the School of Creative Arts Ulster University offers an undergraduate programme, MRes and PhD in Dance. The undergraduate course is all about dancing. We provide all our full-time students with daily practical classes, in addition to weekly choreography workshops and many sessions studying professional dance in practice today. The applicants we look for are passionate about dance. Whether they are highly skilled in a particular form of dance or beginners full of movement potential, they know that they want to immerse themselves in dance in many different forms. Being creative with dance is at the heart of everything we do. One third of the programme is given over to how we make dance (Creative Dance Practice), another third (Contexts for Dance Practice) studies key choreographers and their influence on the development of dance today and the final third trains you in the many skills required by a professional dance artist working today (Professional Arts Practice). Students are taught by leading practitioners in their fields of dance performance, choreography, research and professional practice. Many of the foremost dance artists working in Northern Ireland, Europe and the USA are visiting lecturers on the programme and we maintain strong links with them through work experience opportunities as well as through their teaching. Our graduates have been very successful in gaining places in professional dance companies, winning entrepreneurship and choreographic awards, setting up private companies, becoming Community Dance Artists, Dance Teachers in Secondary and Tertiary level education and continuing in further Dance study. The Dance programme thus has many connections to the wider dance world which are maintained through the Satellite Project that brings together professional practice, research and creative projects from Ireland, the UK and beyond.
