Rowantree Cottage

Rowantree Cottage

Skyreburn is acknowledged to be, scenically, one of the most attractive areas in Kirkcudbrightshire. No traffic noise, no street lights - on a clear night you will be amazed by the stars. Galloway Forest Park recently designated as Britain's first Dark Skies Park is just 20 mins drive away. A much loved family home, Rowantree is comfortable, traditionally furnished and has an open fire. The safe garden has a gate to the Paradise burn at the rear. Red squirrels, nuthatch and woodpeckers are often seen at the bird feeders. The surrounding area has so much to offer whether you are looking for a relaxing peaceful break or one filled with activities and adventure. Cycling, hill walking and birdwatching on your doorstep, look out for red kites, roe deer and other wildlife as well as wild flowers abound in the SSSI field. Within 20 mins drive you can enjoy golf, tennis, sailing, archery, and paintballing as well as the 7 Stanes mountain bike trails of Glen Trool and Kirroughtree. There are the country towns of Gatehouse of Fleet, Castle Douglas 'The Food Town' and Kirkcudbright 'The Artist's Town' all with excellent pubs and restaurants. A visit to Cream o'Galloway to try out the local ice cream is a must! Over the hill you reach Creetown with its Gem Rock museum and, a little further on, Wigtown, Scotland's Book Town with its well known annual Book Festival. Everything for a good holiday.
