The Gardeners Arms
To quote the Hills Amenity Society website (http://www.hillsamenitysociety.co.uk/detail/disctrail.htm), 'the Gardeners' Arms was formerly refreshment rooms; the long wooden hall with its balcony overlooking Loughton was known locally as "Wigan Pier". The beverages sold now are slightly stronger, and the visitor may care to rest here to sample the brew and admire the view over Loughton and beyond to the Thames and the Kent Hills.'
