Lydney Cricket Club's dedicated youth section has produced many of our senior players over the years, and has also provided players for the district and county age group teams. With a number of ECB-qualified coaches affiliated with the club and a long history of developing players, we want to be home to the area's best young cricketers. We welcome boys and girls of any ability and experience of the game, with Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 age groups. The Club aims to allow youngsters to develop individually and socially through football with the provision of training by qualified coaches and participation in competitive matches. Currently it is possible for children ranging in age from 8 to 16 to participate. At present approximately 130 children from Lydney and the surrounding area are registered to take part in Club activities. The Club is managed by a dedicated team which acknowledges its role in providing a supportive, safe environment for children to develop. It seeks to maximize enjoyment for all participants by placing emphasis on teamwork, respect and support. Winning is a clear objective in any competitive activity and it is nice to achieve but this Club measures success in terms of how it contributes to enhance the development of each individual. It therefore seeks to provide appropriate challenges and recognition at an individual level within the team environment. In the 2012/13 season teams will represent the Club at U/9 to U/16 level in the Gloucestershire Youth Association Football League.
