I teach all ages and abilities, whether you want to learn for fun, or take graded examinations. I have been involved in several music workshops and have also co-led an early years mother and child music group. I like to take an aural approach to learning music and so lessons involve listening and learning by ear as well as improvising and singing. I also feel it is important to combine this approach with music theory and sight singing so students have a well rounded understanding of music. I have been CRB checked and am a member of the Musician’s Union. Violin lessons are held in Norwich city centre. Available to hire as a solo violinist, string quartet, or violin and guitar duo for weddings, corporate events and session work. Norwich Playhouse is a superb venue in the heart of the city and one of the most modern performance spaces of its size in East Anglia. The Playhouse opened in the mid-1990s, created from a riverside maltings dating from about 160 years earlier. In the interim, the building had been the Crown Public House, the head office of the Norwich Mercury Newspaper, the depot for Ruymps builders’ merchants, the warehouse of a motor-cycle dealer and a Greek restaurant!

Norwich Arts Centre is a small, independently run venue with charitable status (Charity No: 274803) situated close to the centre of Norwich. NAC is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. Firmly established in the heart of Norwich’s cultural community, NAC plays a key role in the delivery of a programme of live music, theatre, live art, comedy, live literature, new media and photography twinned with a commitment to creating opportunities for the development of new talent. The converted church (originally built in 1349) houses an auditorium able to cater for seated and standing events with many original features of St Swithin’s Church in tact. This allows NAC to undertake a diverse live programme covering rock and pop, world, jazz and folk music as well as rising comedy stars, performance opportunities, children’s theatre and creative workshops. Big names, small venue… The venue received the prestigious ‘NME Best Small Venue in the Eastern Region’ award in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Over the years NAC has seen an amazing array of shows from performers who have subsequently gone on to achieve fame. Amongst those who have appeared are bands such as Coldplay, Nirvana, Oasis, Muse, Kasabian and The Manic Street Preachers as well as blues legend Dr John. Stage performers like Little Britain stars Matt Lucas and David Walliams, top comedians like Dylan Moran, Jack Dee, Josie Long, David Baddiel and Rob Newman have all graced the stage over the years. Former Dr Who star Tom Baker has been spotted in the audience and Hollywood film director/writer Mike Figgis appeared as part of the People Show in the early days. Norwich Puppet Theatre is one of only a handful of theatres in England that is dedicated to creating, presenting and supporting innovation in puppetry and related art forms. Throughout the year, NPT programmes leading international puppetry companies for Early Years audiences, families and adults. We also create and tour our own productions; recent shows include The Tinderbox, Pied Piper and Red Riding Hood. We hold regular workshops for all age groups and provide professional development opportunities with masterclasses led by leading figures within the industry. The Theatre is housed in a Grade 1 listed Medieval building in the centre of Norwich, the church of Saint James, which still includes many original features but is also now home to a large family of puppets.
