Strabane was amongst the earliest centres of GAA activity in Tyrone. Hurling and football clubs formed in 1902; active 1902-09, 1912, 1917, 192 1- 22, 1926. Winners of SHC and finalists in SFC in 1904/05, winners of SFC in 1905/06. SHC in 1926. Camogie team formed in 1920s. Lámh Dhearg football team competed in Finn Valley league (1933-37) and in Derry City league (1943); won Tyrone SFC in 1945 and MFC in 1948. Difficulty in keeping club alive in 1950-70. Strabane team won Juv. FC in 1968, finalists in JFC in 1973. Re-formed as Strabane Sigersons in 1983. Rose through Junior and Intermediate ranks to senior level in late 1990s, currently in Div 2. 2002 MFC2; 2002 AIB Tyrone Club of the Year. Strong support for Scór and Irish Language development. Pairc Mhic Sioghair developed in early 1990s. Hurling promoted by Shamrocks club since 1980s. Winners of Tyrone under-age titles and of SHL
