all my cakes have been designed to the customers requests with their ideas and tastes, i can draw up a unique and totally original cake for any occassion or event. i experiment in all kinds of flavours and pride myself in a reputation for excellent tasting sponges and fillings. i enjoy a challenge and challenge myself to create and make new ideas and recipes. everything i have learned to date has been through my own perseverance and will power. i feel i have practiced my skills to be the best in what i can do.
I have been baking and cooking for the past 20 years. I have been lucky enough to have been trained and taught by some very special bakers and chefs in my career in catering. My passion for baking began when I was 12 years old. I was guided through the tricks of the trade and shown the ways of the baking world by our very good neighbour at my childhood home in Osmington, Weymouth. Barbara leigh, Chair to Warehams WI (upto 1995). I learnt to create special and tradition cakes, and mastered the arts of whisking, mixing and egg cracking and my most favourite, buttercreaming!!
I then begun working in pub restaurants around weymouth and mostly in the kitchen again learning the ways of food prep and creating those traditional recipes, taught by some very experienced chefs, army trained and traditional based. I now have taken baking and cooking into my role as a mum and wife, learning more as I go.
I am also a free-lanced artist and have qualified in visual arts diploma. I regulary host and attend exhibitions. With this artistic skill I have found a love in creating beautifully designed cake. I regulary challenge myself on any design for friends, family and of course my childrens cakes.
in 2011 I had taken on the challenge of baking and designing 15 christmas cakes to order and thankfull succeeded. i also enjoyed creating many diffent biscuits for the kiddies christmas stockings and peppermint creams!! And successfully mastered the art of fudge making!! I hope to continue this line of homemade treats and produce a florising array of tasty bites on a stall in local sales. I will of course be updating regular on the progress of my events.
Christmas 2011 was a massive success for me and I thoroughly enjoyed creating special gifts and nibbles for all my friends and family. And revelled in the positive comments that came back!
