The pub was built in the mid 18th century and stands on the village green in an attractive part of rural West Lancashire. It has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and is a popular local watering hole. It has consistently been awarded accolades for its food being Lancashire Dining Pub of the year in the Good Pub Guide in 1999, 2001, 2005, 2006, 2012 and 2013. With the farm shop next door, the kitchen uses local produce from the fertile Lancashire plain and some of our own meat grown on the farm in Parbold. We welcome drinkers and diners alike. In the summer there is a large garden at the back of the pub which is a real sun trap with a well tended but unconventional bowling green, a games lawn and wildlife area. We have Just finished designing our new celebration menus to meet the criteria of every individual guest. Whether it is a small meeting or an intimate family dinner we will have a package to suit you. Our function room can hold up to 60 guests and has a perfect setting for Christenings, Weddings, Meetings and Christmas Parties. From May onwards we recommend our famous Hog Roast and Barbecue packages, using the gardens at the back of the pub provides a perfect summer evening venue that will ensure great times with friends and family.
