Company History Henshalls Insurance Brokers is one of Shropshire’s largest independent insurance firms. Based in Newport and Shrewsbury, Shropshire, the brokerage was founded by John Henshall in 1967. We celebrated our 40th anniversary in 2007. The business is based in beautiful old Georgian buildings on Newport’s impressive high street. Gower House was purchased outright by the company’s directors in 2006 to ensure the premises remained a well preserved landmark on Newport’s main thoroughfare. The business expanded into Shrewsbury in 2007, taking offices in Brassey Road, Old Potts Way. The Directors Directors Tony Conlon B.A. F.C.I.I, Mark Freeman (FD), Bryan Cutter and Martin Pitchford acquired the company from its founder through a Management Buy Out in 1999. Dave Williams became a shareholding Director in September 2007, closely followed by Anthony Hughes in January, 2008. Henshalls is now wholly owned by the six Directors. The Business Henshalls Insurance Brokers is a totally independent insurance brokerage. In May, 2008, we became members of Willis Commercial Network, allowing us to retain our independence whilst gaining benefit from the resource of one of the largest Insurance Brokers in the world. The business is recognised by the Insurance industry as a brokerage of the highest standing and integrity, enabling us to provide a first class service to our commercial and personal clients. The Commitment to its Community We enjoy an excellent and highly pro-active relationship with our local community. The company has long cherished and nurtured a strong sense of place amongst our 30 strong staff, many of whom live in and around the Newport area. Following the 1999 MBO, we took a strategic decision not to pursue highly visible corporate sponsorships but to dedicate executive and employee time and financial resources to reach out and touch as many parts of its local community as possible.
