For those that love theatre and performance in all its forms welcome to Leicester University Theatre. As one of the University’s oldest Societies dating back for over fifty years, LUTheatre has given the student body the opportunity to direct, write and perform in plays and variety pieces throughout their academic life.
Interested in basking in the limelight and getting on stage? Or perhaps joining our dynamic technical crew and creating worlds in weekends is more your style? LUTheatre is open to all – performers in all senses of the word, artists and designers, heavy lifters, runners, riggers, producers, directors, writers…if you enjoy theatre, then get involved in any and all parts of it!
From 2008, LUTheatre has developed two sister organisations in the form of the highly successful Proteus productions – where writers can exhibit their ten minute plays with a random mix of actors and directors, which is now permanently housed in the Richard Attenborough Centre and meet and perform bi weekly, and the Open House sessions, where once a week we meet and relax with some drama games, and put together some workshops for you to enjoy yourselves in and build confidence in performing for the stage.
Here you can find out about our upcoming productions, as well as planned socials, Theatre trips, and other events and pieces of information to look out for.
