Abney Park in Stoke Newington, in the London Borough of Hackney, is a historic parkland originally laid out in the early 18th century by Lady Mary Abney and Dr. Isaac Watts, and the neighbouring Hartopp family. In 1840 it became a non-denominational garden cemetery, a semi-public park arboretum, and an educational institute, which was widely celebrated as an example of its time. Abney Park is one of the Magnificent Seven London cemeteries. A total number of 196,843 burials took place here as of the year 2000. It is a Local Nature Reserve.

The Nottingham Bluecoat Academy is a Church of England voluntary aided secondary school in the Aspley area of Nottingham, England, dating back to 1706. In 2007, the school had 1550 students aged six to eighteen, including 250 Sixth form students. Prior to receiving Academy status in January 2012, the school was titled The Nottingham Bluecoat School and Technology College.Since 2003, the school has had two campuses, one in Aspley and one in Wollaton.HistoryThe school was founded in 1706 as the first charity school in Nottingham. Under the guidance of the then rector of St. Peter's church, Timothy Fenton. Classes being taught in the porch of St. Mary's Church in the Lace Market area of Nottingham. On the 1 May 1707, the school moved to St. Mary's Gate.In 1723, land that was given by William Thorpe on High Pavement in Weekday Cross was used and the school migrated there, remaining for over a century.Between 1855, the school moved to a purpose-built building on Mansfield Road in Nottingham. The building is now the International Community Centre. A statue of a child in a latter-day Bluecoat uniform remains on the outside of the building. A road behind this site of the school is called Bluecoat Close.

Agecroft Colliery was a coalmine on the Manchester Coalfield in the Agecroft district of Pendlebury that first opened in 1844 in the historic county of Lancashire, England. It exploited the coal seams of the Middle Coal Measures of the Lancashire Coalfield. The colliery had two spells of use; the first between 1844 and 1932 when the most accessible coal seams were exploited and a second lease of life after extensive development in the late 1950s to access the deepest seams..First colliery (1844–1932)The first pit was sunk by Andrew Knowles and Sons and worked an area to the south of the Pendleton Fault. The fault to the north, with a displacement of 695 metres to the northeast, formed a natural boundary to the colliery. The colliery was located close to Clifton Hall Colliery (Lumns Lane, Clifton), and had access to the Manchester and Bolton Railway line and the Manchester Bolton and Bury Canal. In 1896 Agecroft Nos 1 & 2 pits employed 371 underground and 111 surface workers while Agecroft Nos 3 & 4 employed 15 underground and 39 on the surface. In 1923 Nos 1 & 2 pits employed 272 workers and Nos 3 & 4 a total of 371. Floor upheaval on 4 November 1926 resulted in the deaths of six miners.

The grounds were purchased by the local authority in 1920, while the estate house was leased, and later sold to the Sisters of Holy Ghost, to become St. Alban's RC High School.
