Team Phoenix Athletic Cheerleaders are a voluntary run Club, who are a longstanding, renown and respected part of their local community.
Team Phoenix train, and have done since 1993, at Redbridge Community School – a Specialist Sports College, Cuckmere Lane, Southampton. Over the past decade the Club has grown in strength and numbers, and become a highly successful cheerleading programme that encourages members to achieve their full potential with professional instruction and coaching, and giving opportunities to gain own qualifications at a later stage.
Because Team Phoenix teaches athletic cheerleading, an activity which promotes both fitness and teamwork (helping to develop good social skills), it is greatly supported by local Councils, Southampton Sports Development and OSR; and in 2005 TPC’s Head Coach received the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ Award from the Government for being an inspiration to the youth within her local community and for her dedication to the members of Team Phoenix Cheerleaders. This was an exciting year as TPC also achieved a dream come true and qualified at Internationals for the COA Grand Ultimate Championships in Orlando Florida, but sadly were unable to raise enough funds to send the whole team. However Team Phoenix is still striving to make it to the States and represent both the UK and their hometown, Southampton with pride and true cheerleading spirit.
