Elmscot Group of Day Nurseries, Nursery Schools and Out-of-School Clubs

Elmscot Group of Day Nurseries, Nursery Schools and Out-of-School Clubs

Main Office: 149 Stockport Road, Altrincham ,
Founded in 2001 by two local mums, the Elmscot Group has 900 registered children. There are three Day Nurseries in the Elmscot Group for children aged 0-5 years: Elmscot and Woodlands in Timperley, and Hale, which opened in October 2011. All provide self-contained Nursery Schools, each led by a post-graduate Early Years Professional (ahead of the government's 2015 target) and each with a qualified teacher for pre-school children overseeing Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) education. The Elmscot Group also includes School’s Out, seven out-of-school Clubs offering childcare before and after school for children aged 3-11 years and during school holidays for children aged 3-14 years, offering continuity for children who have attended Elmscot's Nurseries. The Elmscot Group team of over 120 practitioners are highly qualified, skilled and aim to provide families with an exceptional service: 6 settings have already been found outstanding in every area by OFSTED (fewer than 9% of schools and other educational settings achieve this standard) and several awards have been won for their commitment to quality and promoting children's health (menus are approved by a dietician and all settings hold Trafford Healthy Setting Awards). More information about the team, the education and childcare on offer, including current newsletters, can be found on their websites: For more information about Nurseries, please see www.elmscot.co.uk. For more information about School's Out, please see www.schoolsoutgroup.co.uk

In 2005, St Ambrose College became a mathematics and computing college. In 2012 the school became an academy, and was completely re-built.History of Child AbuseIn December 2012, the college was implicated in a child sex abuse case involving teaching staff carrying out alleged acts of abuse both on and off school grounds, although no current staff are said to be involved. More than fifty former pupils contacted police, either as victims of, or witnesses to, sexual abuse. The alleged sexual abuse, including molestation of children while corporal punishment was administered, stemmed from 1962 onwards and continued over four decades.HistorySt. Ambrose College, was founded during the second world war, by a group of evacuee De La Salle Brothers. Arriving in Hale in 1940 from Les Vauxbelets College in Guernsey, the Brothers, and a small group of students soon found suitable accommodation and re-established their school.Towards the end of June 1940, when the Channel Islands were about to be occupied by the German army, the parents of boys attending Les Vauxbelets College, were asked to decide whether they should allow their sons to be evacuated to Great Britain or keep them at home with all the attendant risks (hunger, forced labour, etc.).
