The Trans Pennine Trail (TPT) is an exciting route for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. 215 miles (346Km) long, it runs coast-to-coast between Southport and Hornsea, linking the North and Irish seas, and passing through the Pennines alongside rivers and canals, and some of the most historic towns and cities in the North of England. A north-south route connnects Leeds and Chesterfield, and a spur to York means there are approximately 350 miles (560 km) of Trans Pennine Trail available to explore. Mapped and signed all the way, the trail is mainly traffic free, and suprisingly level considering the dramatic scenery along the way. The Trail is also a key part of the National Cycle Network!
