Bedlington Race Night
Last years Charity Race Night raised well over £3,000 for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and with a bit of luck we can get somewhere near that target once again!
Tickets will go on sale over the coming weeks at £5 each, details of where you can purchase these from will be announced when appropriate. All proceeds will once again go to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research (Registered charity 216032 in England & Wales). I'm also delighted to announce that one again we have the brilliant compère Iain McGovern to organise proceedings, ably assisted by the Tyneside No1 CSC.
If you've never been to a Race Night before, heres a little bit of an intro....
The night will consist of 8 races each with eight horses. The first 7 are normal races where people have the opportunity to buy (own) a horse before the night. The owner names the horse and the winning owner on the night will get the prize that the Race Sponsor has donated.
The last race is an auction race where each horse is sold to the highest bidder on the night, with a large cash prize given to the winning owner of this race.
Every race has the same format:
The betting is opened and bets are sold for each horse at 50p each.
A member of the audience is invited to select a race from a selection of unmarked security sealed videos/DVDs.
The value of each bet is announced to the audience.
The race is played.
The winning ticket holders collect their money.
The winning owner is presented with their prize.
The emphasis of the night is to have fun and raise as much money as possible for the charity, so the more you get up and cheer your horse on, the better the night will be, it was certainly a corker last year!
