Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank aims to help individuals and families in crisis by providing free emergency food until the appropriate agencies are in a position to assist. We collect tinned and dried food, which is donated by the public at churches, mosques, temples, workplaces and schools. Some wholesale food companies also donate items on a regular basis. The food is then given to people in crisis as a result of referrals from professionals such as Social Services, Connexions, Health Visitors, and other carers working in the front line. A typical bag of food for an individual may contain: tinned vegetables, tinned meat or fish, tinned fruit, tea/coffee, sugar, long-life milk, cereal, pasta or rice, biscuits and energy bars.
