Redfest Bristol

Church Rd, Redfield, Bristol ,
Redfest Bristol, an independent arts and music festival aims to be the biggest so far bringing music, film, cabaret, comedy, animation, graffiti, photography, art and children's events to the communities of Redfield, Easton, St George and Whitehall in East Bristol. An exciting mix of events will be held at venues around Church Road including the Old Stillage, Red Lion, Café Grounded, with an even bigger free all-dayer in St George's Park on Saturday 3rd August where a stage will host bands and DJs from Bristol and beyond from the middle of the day to early evening. Children's activities will take place, and a 'street' of stalls will accompany a bar in the park serving local ales and refreshing drinks. Redfest is run by a group of volunteers from the local community and is entirely reliant on public donations, support and sponsorship from local businesses and grant funding where available. Creative Common Bristol

Creative Common Bristol

Creative Common, Isambard Walk, Temple Quay (behind Temple Meads Railway Station), Bristol ,
A former derelict piece of land behind Bristol Temple Meads train station was completely transformed from wasteland to ‘Creative Common’ – a unique collaboration between The Invisible Circus and Bristol City Council with support from Arts Council England. Creative Common 2013, anticipated to attract up to 100,000 visitors over nine months, creating 58 full time jobs in the arts and featuring 250 individual artists and performers. The 2013 season, directed by Esther O’Callaghan OBE (formerly Manchester International Festival) launched on 7 June with NoFit State Circus’ spellbinding show ‘Bianco’ in their iconic silver spaceship big top. For many of the talented NoFit State performers, who trained at Bristol’s centre for physical theatre and circus, Circomedia, it was a homecoming to remember, as the city welcomed the company back after a twenty-two year hiatus. From 7 June 2013 onwards, in inimitable Bristol style, Creative Common offer a nine month artist-led, cultural programme merging site specific, immersive circus and physical theatre, compelling independent cinema, interactive public art and exhibitions, thought provoking debates and interviews and award winning local food, drink and live music from Bristol and beyond. The programme will feature something for everyone, from culture vultures to families, Bristolians themselves and visitors to the city alike. www.creativecommon.co.uk

The Gallimaufry

The Gallimaufry

26/28 The Promenade, Gloucester Rd, Bishopston, Bristol ,
Eat seasonal British food, drink great coffee, local cask ales and ciders. Listen to the best Bristol live musicians & DJ’s. Check out the work of emerging artists featured throughout the venue. What does the word ‘gallimaufry’ mean? Once a hodgepodge stew of humble ingredients made on the galleys, it evolved to represent up-cycled things to wear and use around the home. Our interpretation? Making the best out of what’s available to us on a daily basis. Re-using, up-cycling or re-cycling; working with local suppliers, artists & artisans wherever possible. The venue was transformed in 5 days on the site of the former Prom Music Bar with a shoe-string budget in March, 2012. We support, accept and trade the Bristol Pound (we’re the Gloucester Rd access point).
