The Toll Centre is a Community Centre owned by the people of Burntisland and run on behalf of the community by a Management Committee. The Toll Centre has been central feature of life in Burntisland since the mid 70s. It grew out of Youth Clubs Burntisland and so youth clubs and activities for children and young people are its primary purpose and a central feature of our programme. It also provides a venue for a number of local organisations and is home to the Burntisland Playgroup and the Burntisland Out of School Service. As a registered charity, the Toll Centre relies upon Fife Council to fund some of its running costs, but all other expenses are covered by income generated from room and hall rentals together with fundraising efforts.

The HypnoBirthing course is really invaluable to expectant mothers and their partners. You will be taught about your body and baby as they change and grow through pregnancy. You will then learn the factors which can cause discomfort during childbirth and how to eliminate these factors. Through this there will be a little bit of history of women and childbirth so you realise that women used to have easy child births but circumstances that have occurred over the years have caused us to be scared of it - and it is this fear that can cause discomfort in birthing. It is called The Fear-Tension-pain Syndrome. You will learn, together, relaxation techniques that you will practise through your pregnancy, to condition yourself to slip your mind and body quickly and easily into the deep relaxation that is needed for easy, comfortable childbirth. I will also advise about hospital routines/procedures and the choices you have in these. I will help/advise you drawing up your birth plan, and also talk you through a Fear Release which is designed to bring up any fears/worries/concerns you may have, whether it be to do with childbirth or otherwise. This will ensure that you are holding no fear or tension in your body as this is detrimental to birthing. And finally, I will advise how you can bring your baby into the world without forceful pushing which can also hinder the birthing process. The course is beneficial to mum, dad, and baby. Dads tend to feel more involved, they have their little bits to do and don’t feel like a ‘spare part‘!. Mums are more relaxed, enjoy their pregnancy and look forward to the birth. Both mum and dad connect/bond with baby during pregnancy. And babies born using HypnoBirthing tend to be calm, happy babies who feed and sleep well, this is due to their calm pregnancy and birth. You will also be amazed by watching women HypnoBirthing on DVD during class, something you cannot fake! HypnoBirthing is also brilliant for Dad’s, as you will attend the course and learn together. The 2 of you will learn to be so in tune with one another during your birthing and give the calm, confident, relaxed support that mums need.
