South Hill Road, Callington ,
We're a twenty minute drive from the A30, making all Cornwall's major attractions within easy reach, i.e. less than an hour from the Eden Project. There are however endless lovely places right on our doorstep. We are situated on the edge of the beautiful unspoilt Tamar Valley, a short drive from dramatic scenery on Bodmin Moor and surrounded by scenic river walks in the Lynher and Tamar Valleys. Fishing villages of Looe and Polperro are an easy day out on the south coast and Tintagel, Boscastle and Port Isaac (Doc Marten) on the north. The market towns of Tavistock, Launceston and Liskeard are all less than ten miles away and "real" places full of history and interest, not just for the tourists! Plymouth with its prestigious new shopping centre and its famous Hoe is about fifteen miles away.
St Mary's Church, Callington

St Mary's Church, Callington

For full list of services, please see below. St. Mary’s is the Church of England building situated in the heart of Callington and is consecrated and dedicated to St. Mary the Blessed Virgin. The present Church was built shortly before 1438. According to old documents, however, there was a chapel in Callington in 1384 but at this period the parishioners had to bury their dead at St. Sampsons’ South Hill. In 1436 Nicholas Assheton, chief townsman at the time, together with other parishioners petitioned Bishop Lacey for a cemetery. This was granted in 1438 and it was thanks largely to Nicholas Assheton’s generosity and planning that the new church of St. Mary’s was built. Nicholas Assheton and his wife, Margaret, are buried beneath the Chancel floor under a marble slab inlaid with their brass effigies, now below a trap door in the raised chancel floor that is opened from time to time for viewing. Our main service of the week is at 9.30 am on Sunday but we also have Morning Prayer on a Monday and a mid-week service on a Wednesday followed by coffee and informal chat. St. Mary’s is also here for Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals. There are House Groups and a Lent course each year along with various activities to raise monies for church expenses and charities. ‘Sunday Morning Live’ meets every Sunday morning during term time in the Town Hall at 9.20 am. Secondary school age members have a monthly programme of social activities, e.g. Games/quiz evenings, visits to see the Plymouth Raiders basketball games, bowling etc. The younger children also have occasional social get togethers. The Leaders of Sunday Morning Live also run holiday clubs and the annual Crib Service on Christmas Eve is always very popular. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SERVICES AT ST. Mustard Seed Evangelical Church

Mustard Seed Evangelical Church

1 Launceston Road, Callington ,
A warm welcome awaits you at The Mustard Seed — a Christian fellowship in the heart of Callington, southeast Cornwall. Callington is a small town of around 5,000 people and has four churches, of which The Mustard Seed is one. We have a variety of activities each week that interact with the community — both young and old. We come together for worship on a Sunday, home group Bible studies each week and other activities throughout the week. We are active in supporting both foreign and local missions. The church is not affiliated to any denomination but upholds the evangelical tradition of Bible-based teaching, worship and prayer. It is also well-connected with the other churches in town and we are a part of many joint Christian activities.
