Area Action Partnerships or AAPs for short are a new way of involving you in the work of your County Council, Town and Parish Councils, Housing, Health, Police and Emergency Services, local businesses and the voluntary and community Sector, placing you at the heart of local decision making.
There are 14 AAPs throughout Durham County which want to work with you to identify and address your local issues and in turn improve the area you live in, its services, its facilities and its appearance, its very way of life!
The Derwent Valley Partnership covers the areas of: Consett, Delves Lane, Shotley Bridge, Blackhill, Bridgehill, Benfieldside, The Grove and Moorside, Hamsterley Mill, Hamsterley, Ebchester, Medomsley, Dipton, Burnopfield, Leadgate, Iveston.
AAPs will focus on the following key principles:
• Engage and involve local people, service providers such as the Police, Fire Service and local Councillors so they can work together to tackle local issues
• Allow local people to get involved in influencing decisions that affect their area and guide the spending of the AAP budget
• Take action on local issues
• Monitor the effectiveness of local services
The AAP Forum is open to anyone who lives, works or studies in the DVP area. It is a way for members of the communities in the AAP to make their views known on the issues and opportunities in their area, as well as being involved, if they chose to be, in addressing these.
